First Word Hi
All! One
of the joys of publishing WME is visiting so many websites, with so much good
information. This week I discovered a fascinating site, and I want to share it
with you. You can learn a lot from our first item, 'The
Marketing Hall of Fame'. Enjoy this, and the rest of a bumper issue. Thought
For the Week: "The
question isn't, "Do you make mistakes?" It's, "Do you learn from them?" -
Peter Drucker The
Marketing Hall Of Fame Online.
Offline. The principles of Marketing are the same. So, since the world of Web
Marketing can get a bit inbred at times, we'd like to expose you to some of the
top offline Marketing efforts of recent years- the Inductee's to Counterintuitive
Marketing's Hall of Fame. "Counterintuitive
Marketing Hall of Famers have achieved great marketing success adhering to
marketing fundamentals such as clearly defining a profitable target and a
compelling positioning, developing great advertising which clearly communicates
benefits, and maintaining superior customer service." The Inductees are
well worth studying, and the principles they have followed can be actioned in
YOUR business. http://www.counterintuitivemarketing.com/hallfame.html Bigger
May Not Be Better, But Too Small Is Bad It's
not that I'm getting older, or that the eyesight is getting worse. It's just
that the font sizes are getting smaller. I wish! What
I DO wish, like millions of others, is that webmasters wouldn't follow the
example of the lawyers, and use too much small type. It's a blessed nuisance.
Well, here's a Lockergnome tip that will have you fixing the problem in Internet
Explorer, in no time at all. "All you need
to do is open Internet Explorer and select Tools|Internet Options from the menu.
Click a button called Accessibility. All that is left is for you to put a check
in the box next to "Ignore font sizes specified on Web pages." Viola!
No more font size troubles. If you are a more advanced user then you can even go
as far in this window as to set your own style sheet for every Web page. This is
a great option for the visually impaired as you can set more vivid colors and
larger text then the Web designer specified." Well,
that's fixed the problem on the computer. Now, how do I sort out the print
media? Take
The Marketing IQ Test Are you
brave enough to take the Marketing IQ test? How will you rate? This test is
"based on the results of a 50-question marketing IQ test given to a
national sample of more than 1000 CEOs, Copernicus has found that the average
marketing IQ of senior executives is just 79." Here's the scale... 150-160:

We won't tell. Unless you get a great score, and want to let us know, that is.
Your Editor was a bit disappointed to come in at 112. Obviously it's much harder to
be rated a 'guru' here, than on the Internet in general! Cluetrain

Here's
a handy toolbar to drop onto your webpages, that will help your visitors AND
increase your traffic. All you need to do
is place one line of HTML into the appropriate place in your webpage code. The
first thing the toolbar does, is to display the <Title> of your page on
the top line. On the main body of the toolbar, there are 3 options for your
visitors. 1.
Add your page their Favorites folder. This works for visitors with Internet
Explorer 4, 5 and 6. 2.
Lets your visitors share your site with a friend. This opens up their email
client, and adds your page ,Title> as the Subject: of the email. This will
function with Netscape 4 and with Explorer 4, 5 and 6. 3.
Lets your visitors set your page as their Homepage. This works with Explorer 5
and 6 only, it won't be displayed to users of earlier versions. The
background color of the toolbar can be personalised with the color of your
choice. To read more about this script, visit http://send-a-link.com A
Great Response It
